50 Years Ago May 1965

Fifteen new teachers will begin classes in Clear Lake’s school system for the 1965-66 term.  New teachers include John Angle, Leila Douglas, Larry Andreessen, Arlene Fritz, Daniel Moeller, Marilyn Stoa, Vicki Rakow, Pete Timmer, John Gilpin, Carol Magilton, Penelope Loman, and Helen Shudlik.

The new First Congregational Church building will be dedicated this Sunday.

Mrs. Doris Clark, 24, has been discharged from the hospital after going through a shattering explosion that completely destroyed her 16’ inboard cruiser.  The blast was heard throughout the city.  Mrs. Clark was in the boat trying to start it when the explosion occurred, throwing her along with debris of the wooden boat, into shallow water.

Mrs. Lois Miller has reopened the former George and Aggie’s Cafe on N. 3rd St. now called the “Pic-A-Rib.”
