Busy week for CL tennis girls

The Clear Lake girls tennis team participated in a quadrangular meet at Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, May 2.  Osage and Aplington-Parkersburg also took part.

W-SR handled the Lions, 4-0.  The Go-Hawks posted wins in singles over Maranda Harrison, 8-5, and Jessica Theobald, 8-3.  The doubles team of Kaylee Nosbisch and Stephanie Penning was defeated, 8-0, as was the team of Emily Theiss and Ashlyn Fread.

Against Osage, Harrison and Theobald each won in singles, 9-7 and 8-2, and Theiss and Fread picked up a win in doubles, 8-6.  Nosbisch and Penning were beaten, 8-1.

Harrison scored the only win in the match with A-P.  She topped her opponent in singles, 8-3.  Theobald was defeated, 8-5.  Nosbisch and Penning were topped, 8-1, and Theiss and Fread lost, 8-0.

IF-A 6-3

On Tuesday, May 7, the Lions took on Iowa Falls-Alden.  Harrison and Theobald continued to play well and each earned a win in singles.  Harrison topped Faith Hinz, 8-5, and Theobald defeated Kaitlee Krumm, 8-2.

Stalzer, 8-2; Penning was beaten by Olivia Butt, 8-4; Kaley Meyer lost to Nelly Chmurova, 8-4, and Kara Reineke fell to Darby Dodd, 8-1.

In doubles, Harrison-Theobald were 8-6 winners.  Krumm/Dodd defeated Meter Penning, 8-1, and Butt/Chmurova bested Reineke/Theiss, 8-6.

Team Regionals

The Lions competed in Team Regionals at Waverly-Shell Rock Saturday, May 11.  According to Coach Cat Bauer-Aragon, her team came out ready to work on the cold, sprinkly day, but just couldn’t scrape out any wins.  The team lost, 0-5.
