CL and GHV boys to compete in Class 2A District 3 bracket

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released its 2017 post-season basketball pairings

Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura will both participate in the Class 2A District 3 bracket and both have received first round byes.  The first games for the local teams will be played at Garner Thursday, Feb. 16.

The Lions will take on the winner of the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows vs. Hampton-Dumont played Feb. 13.  Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Garner.

GHV will meet the winner of the Eagle Grove vs. Belmond-Klemme game, also played on Feb. 13.   The GHV game is expected to start at 8 p.m.

The District final will be played at Forest City Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.

The District 3 winner will advance to play the winner of District 4 in a sub-state battle set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in Mason City.  The team coming out on top will move on to the State Tournament.  Class 2A teams will compete beginning Monday evening, March 6, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.  Class 2A first round games continue Tuesday morning, March 7.  Class 2A semifinals are slated for Thursday, March 9; consolation finals are Friday, March 10; the Class 2A championship game will be played at 8:05 p.m. Friday, March 10.

Teams competing in District 4 include: Sumner-Fredericksburg, South Winneshiek, Calmar, North Fayette Valley, Central Springs, Osage and New Hampton.
