CL girls continue to improve
The Clear Lake girls picked up a win in the 4x200 and saw continued improvements in individual events competing at the Don Hoppel Co-ed Relay held at Garner Monday, May 5.
The Lions’ 4x200 with Brittany Bieber, Aspen Curtis, Mckenna Backhaus and Megan Merfeld broke the tape in 1:57.37. The same group was sixth in the 4x100 in 56.16.
Coach Shawn Puttmann noted Backhaus keeps improving in the 100 dash and Monday finished as runner-up in 13.47. Teammate Shelby Dickes was seventh in 13.80.
Merfeld also picked up a third place finish in the 200, running a 28.03. Aspen Curtis was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:19.27 and Katie Adams was 13th in the 100 hurdles in 22.60.
The 4x800 with Dickes, Bieber, Backhaus and Merfeld was fourth in 2:00.35.
Osage captured the team title with 148 points and host GHV was second with 114. The Lions were seventh in the eight-team field with 34 points.
