Ninth ranked Crestwood (3A) ended the season for the Clear Lake girls in the opening round of softball post-season play Wednesday, July 8. Crestwood struck early, with eight runs scored in two innings, and went on to a 10-0 shutout.
Crestwood’s Lauren Ricks fired a one-hitter against the Lions. Senior Michala Ouverson was the only Clear Lake batter to reach base.
“The girls played hard and battled well at the plate. We played defense well and it was a good way to end the season fighting,” said Clear Lake Coach Megan Young.
The Cadets had two home runs to help them to the quick lead. The Lions then steadied themselves and held them scoreless until the sixth, when they added two more runs.

“We were error free and got on base with their errors,” added Young. “As coaches we were very pleased with the way the girls ended the season. We hope to carry this momentum into the off season and bring back a strong team next year.”
The Lions ended the season with a 1-23 record.
