Col. Sarah Christ will deliver Memorial Day message

The Saratoga VFW Post Memorial Day Committee is excited to announce the guest speak for 2019 Memorial Day services is Colonel Sarah

J. Christ.  Colonel Christ is a graduate of Clear Lake schools and the daughter of Don and Sandy Christ.  She is the Chief, Installation Engineering Division, Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas which is responsible for the oversight and management of $277 billion worth of facility and infrastructure assets supporting 10 major commands at 77 installations worldwide.

Clear Lake’s Memorial Day program will begin at the Sea Wall at 9:30 a.m. Monday.  Following a welcome by Officer of the Day Cris Beard, MGST U.S. Marine Corps, retired, U.S. Air Force veteran Don Christ will provide the opening prayer.  The Clear Lake High School Band will perform the National Anthem and Navy Hymn as U.S. Navy veteran Mike Nelson casts a wreath on the lake.

The program will then move to the Clear Lake Cemetery.  In addition to an address by Col. Christ, the program will include placing of wreaths by Daughters of the American Revolution, Wanda Kennedy; Civil War, Pam Grill; American Legion Post #222, Kathy Vine; VFW Post 4868, Linda Dockwell; AMVETS #135, Linda Born; and a tribute to the Patriotic Orders that have been disbanded, “Navy Mothers”, “Women’s Relief Corps”, World War I and W.R.C:,  Peta Ressler.

The Gettysburg Address will be read by Clear Lake High School student Jillian Enke and “The Meaning of Taps” will be presented by Sydney Williams.  An Honor Guard Salute, Taps played by John Aslakson, LT U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, retired, and Benediction by veteran Don Christ will conclude the program.
