It was a good week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team, as they won one meet and finished as runner-up in another.  Bailee Frayne also had an excellent individual week, finishing as meet medalist and runner-up.

On Monday, April 25, the team hosted Eagle Grove and North Iowa.  The Cardinals won the meet with a 204, followed by Eagle Grove with a 210.  North Iowa had an incomplete score.

Frayne finished as runner-up with a 42.  Kyleigh Slaichert finished with a 51, followed by Paige Penning with a 54, Rachel Enright carded a 57, Kat Groom ended with a 64 and Kayla Leerar had a 67.

“We carded one of our better team scores, but I didn’t really feel the girls played up to their potential,” said Coach Todd Greiman.  “We definitely have some work to do before tournaments roll around.”

On Friday, April 29, the team traveled to Forest City. Lake Mills won the triangular with a 201, followed by GHV with a 203 and Forest City ended with a 229.

Frayne was the meet medalist with a 41.  Rounding out the score was Slaichert with a 49, Enright ended with a 52, Penning carded a 61, Groom had a 68 and Leerar finished with a 73.

“We left a lot of strokes out there tonight,” said Greiman.  “The girls were not used to the speed of the Bear Creek greens and that led to some bigger numbers than we probably deserved.”
