Wooden boat show cancelled

 

Organizers of the Clear Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous have announced they have cancelled their 2013 gathering, which had been scheduled July 20.  According to Chamber of Commerce 

Tourism Director Libbey Patton, fewer than anticipated club members were going to be available to attend.   

Last year the group decided to cancel due to the low water level of the lake.  However, Patton said the group hopes to revive the event in 2015.

LAKE LEVEL

 

The lake level rose significantly with last week’s rains. 

 The level rose 1.32” to its new reading of +2.28” above the weir.  Last year at this time the lake measured -12.84”.

 

Inching closer

 

Following a week filled with rain, the level of Clear Lake is inching ever so close to spilling over the weir.  The Clear Lake Water Department reported the lake level as -0.24 inches below the weir Tuesday, May 28. That’s a

A final decision regarding its future look is in the “distant future,” but the Clear Lake City Council unanimously voted to enlist the help of RDG Planning and Design to develop a conceptual plan for the area near City Beach formerly occupied by a water tower.

Students organize, contribute to blood drive

 

On Wednesday, March 20, Clear Lake High School held its 16th blood drive in the high school gym.  Students from the Human Anatomy and Physiology II class were in charge of the planning, promotion and implementation of the drive.  Seventy-four students and teachers were able to donate 59 units through the Life Serve Blood Center of Iowa.

A 1994 Chevrolet pickup has been recovered after breaking through the ice on Clear Lake during the early morning hours Tuesday, Feb. 26.
