Kenneth Hansen

   Kenneth James Hansen, of Rockport, Tex., passed away on July 11, 2012.
    A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m., Aug. 2, 2012 at Nisswa Community Center, Nisswa, Minn.
    He was born Aug. 25, 1942 in Titonka, Iowa to Ray and Margaret Barrett Hansen.

W.C. “Doc” Field

     Warren C. (Doc) Field, 86, of Greeley, Colo. died on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies in Ft. Collins, Colo.
    In honor of  W.C. “Doc” Field a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012, from 3-5 p.m. at the Best Western Holiday Lodge in the Veranda Room, next to the pool.

Cassidy Stehn

     Cassidy Leigh Stehn, age 9, of Northwood, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, as a result of a tragic motor vehicle accident near Hanlontown, Iowa in Worth County.
    A funeral service for Cassidy was held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Pastor Karen Rossing Grandall, and Pastor Wendi Gillan of the United Methodist Church in Northwood officiating. 

Mary Norris

    Mary Darlene Norris, of Fort Collins, Colo., 87, died July 14, 2012.  Services will be held in Colorado at a later time.
    Mary was born in Des Moines, Iowa, where she lived for most of her life.  She also maintained a home in Clear Lake, Iowa and lived for briefer periods in Omaha, Neb., Green Valley, Az., and Kilmarnock, VA.

Larry Simmer

    Larry Dean Simmer, 69, of Mason City, Iowa formerly of Clear Lake, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Chautauqua Guest Home #2, Charles City, Iowa.
    Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Military honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Larry Dean Simmer Memorial Fund.

  Jerry Duane Scott, 74, of Clear Lake, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family.  A Memorial Service was held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Clear Lake played host to hundreds of bicyclists during the Bicycle, Blues and Barbecue event held the weekend of July 6-8.  The party started on Friday night in City Park, downtown Clear Lake, with barbecue and live music.  

Alliant urges conservation with continued hot weather

    Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, announced again Tuesday it would cycle air conditioners for all participating Iowa customers. Weather conditions were such that from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. customers enrolled in the Appliance Cycling program had their air conditioner cycled in 15-minute intervals to reduce overall energy usage.
