Susan D. Rice

  Susan “Susie” Diane Rice, age 71, of One Vision, in Clear Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 28, 2020.

  Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

  A private memorial service will be held at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating.  The service was streamed on the Facebook page on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Two COVID-19 cases reported in CG County

Health officials confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 in Cerro Gordo County Sunday, March 22.  Both cases involved adults in the 18- to 40-year-old range.   Monday, public health officials reported two more cases in Hancock County, with both being older adults ages 61 to-80-years, bringing the statewide confirmed total to 105; 2,243 negative tests have been conducted at the State Hygienic Lab.

School district offers emergency food program with bus stop delivery

The Clear Lake Community School District has implemented an emergency food program.

Effective Tuesday, March 23, the district began making meals available at the bus stops. They will be delivered by bus drivers in a school vehicle (not a bus).  Families are asked to pick up meals at the stop that is most convenient.   There will be no pick up at Clear Creek.
