Winning weigh-in

The father and son team of Bock and Bock weighed in their limit of 30 yellow bass Sunday and were declared the winners of the Yellow Bass Bonanza with 17.74 pounds.  The largest fish weighed in by the two anglers was 1.95 pounds.  Placing second in the tournament was the team of Trebon and Kuper with 30 fish weighing 17.68 pounds.  Third place went to the team of Leonard and Lahr with 30 fish weighing 16.37 pounds. - Reporter photo by Chris Barragy.

“Well, how about it Clear Lake?” begged Editor and Publisher Joe Roth in the Feb. 11, 1970 edition of the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter. 

Roth penned a column hoping to catch the eye of someone—  anyone in town to save the Surf from becoming anything but a ballroom.  The days of hosting ballroom dancing were waning and the current owner had closed the venue twice.

Mary Lou Mott, 92, of Mason City, formerly Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at IOOF Home, in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.
