Jim Lynn Muhlenbruch, age 58 of Abingdon, Va., formerly of Clear Lake, passed away at Johnston Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Clear Lake Arts Center, 17 S. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Mary Ellen Long Stufflebean, 89, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at 12:30 a.m. in Springfield.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Pastor Ed Bard officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Clear Lake Friendly Garden Club.

(Above) Earth Day, 1992Allison Cooper (left) and Jenny Deffendall, eighth grade students at Ventura in 1992, cleaned up trash in the Ventura Marsh area as part of an Earth Day project carried out by all Ventura Schools students.  Students dispersed to all areas of Ventura to clean up trash.  They then hauled the trash to the Community Center and sorted it for recycling.

The thrill of the hunt

Brick by brick

Old brick sidewalks have been removed and new ones were being installed Monday as part of the Main Avenue Sidewalk Restoration Project.  The south side of the 300 block of Main Avenue is the first of eight segments of the project.  Businesses remain open during the work.  The next phase will be on the north side of Main from the former Thrifty White store east to Wilcox Furniture.-Reporter photo.
