School Superintendent Doug Gee has presented the Clear Lake School Board with staffing options which will cut an estimated $600,000 from the district’s 2017-18 budget.  The Board unanimously approved the plan, which will keep all present course offerings in place.

(Above) Snowmobile races, 1967Art Ashland, Clear Lake, upper photo, flagged the start of the Oval Track race at the 2nd Annual Snowmobile Rally held in 1967.  A large crowd can be seen in the bottom photo as the racers skimmed by.  There were 30 registered drivers for the rally.  About 350 people watched the excitement along the shoreline.

Color the Wind Kite Fest cancelled

The much anticipated Color the Wind Kite Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, has been cancelled due to rapidly deteriorating ice conditions at the downtown Sea Wall.

“The safety of the kite flyers and the public is of primary concern,” said organizers  Larry and Kay Day.
