Busy week for CL track girls
Forest City
Twenty-five varsity and junior varsity teams competed at the Indian Relays in Forest City. The Clear Lake girls placed 18th overall, while the Lion JV was 23rd.
Tali Tesar posted a third place finished in the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.23. She was also fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:14.74. Alena Gabrielsson was fifth in the 300 meter run in 13:12.05.
Ashley Archer placed third in the long jump with a leap of 14’9.25”. Selena Borrill was fourth in the JV long jump with a mark of 12’6”. Katie Tofte was fifth in the JV shot put with a toss of 25’9.50”.
In relays events, The 4x100 team of Macy Mixdorf, Kaylee Nosbisch, Ashley Archer and Megan Merfeld was sixth in 56.02. The JV team of Olivia Amos, Joslyn Gannon, Katie Tofte and Mikayla VanderPloeg placed sixth as well, running a 1:01.55.
The 4x200 varsity team of Macy Mixdorf, Ashley Archer, Sharrell Lee and Megan Merfeld was fourth in 1:57.12. The JV squad of Laura Rose, VanderPloeg, Borrill and Kayla Ritter was also fourth in 2:08.63.
The 4x400 relay with Ritter, Emily Jandebeur, Mallory Leisure and Tali Tesar was fourth in 4:51.78. The shuttle hurdle team had the same placement. Amos, Archer, Ritter and Tesar ran a 1:13.64.
The Sprint Medley relay was sixth, as Nosbisch, Lee, Merfeld and Jandebeur ran a 2:10.03. The JV was fifth in the same event in 2:18.10. Gannon, Amos, Rose and Leisure ran the race for the Lions. The Distance Medley was also fourth, as Merfeld, Nosbisch, Lee and Jandebeur ran a 4:56.55.
Charles City
Ashley Archer won the long jump and was a member of three place winning relays for the Lions at Charles City Friday, April 22. Archer’s jump of 14’3.75” topped the long jump field. The shuttle hurdle team placed third, while the 4x100 and 4x200 relays were fourth. The shuttle hurdle team also included Joslyn Gannon, Kayla Ritter and Tali Tesar running a 1:14.26. The 4x100 had Macy Mixdorf, Kaylee Nosbisch and Megan Merfeld in 56.69. The 4x200 relay also included Mixdorf, Kayla Ritter and Merfeld.
In addition to her placement in the shuttle hurdle, Tesar was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:15.28, and sixth in the 100 hurdles in 17.77. Mixdorf picked up more placements in the 200, finishing third in 29.50, and as a member of the fifth place Distance Medley relay with Merfeld, Sharrell Lee and Emilie Jandebeur in 4:52.79.
The Sprint Medley with Nosbisch, Lee, Merfeld and Jandebeur was fourth in 2:08.85. The 4x800 relay of Alena Gabrielsson, Bailey Larsen, Taylor Justice and Mallory Leisure was fifth in 12:27.95.
Bulldog Relays
The Lions were at Hampton Friday, April 29, for the Bulldog Relays. Clear Lake placed sixth in the nine-team field with 65 points. Charles City dominated the meet with 159 points.
Sprinter Macy Mixdorf had a good meet, placing second in the 200 meters in 28.78 and fifth in the 100 in 14.19. She also joined Ashley Archer, Sharrell Lee and Megan Merfeld to finished third in the 4x200. Mixdorf, Kaylee Nosbisch, Archer and Merfeld were fifth in the 4x100 in 56.02.
Talie Tesar was steady in the hurdling events, placing fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.55 and sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:14.31. She was also a member of the shuttle hurdle relay team which placed second in 1:12.86. The relay also included Olivia Amos, Archer and Kayla Ritter. Ritter also earned a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:08.32.
The 800 Sprint Medley team of Nosbisch, Lee, Merfeld and Emilie Jandebeur was fifth in 2:07.89.
In field events, Archer finished third in the ling jump with a leap of 14’.
