GHV boys sending events to the State Track Meet

It was a good day for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys track team, as they qualified two individual events and one relay for State at the District Meet held Friday, May 10, in Garner.
“Everyone worked hard and we are excited to represent GHV at the State meet,” said Coach Ryan Hinders.
Reece Smith was the winner of two individual events. He will compete in the 3200 and the 1600 meter runs. His time of 9:58 won the 3200 and he won the 1600 race in 4:33.69.
Smith was also the anchor for the winning Distance Medley relay team. The team, which also consists of Devion Moore, Jace Pringnitz and Caleb Renner, ran a personal best in the race with a time of 3:38.30.
The 4x100 team of Moore, Pringnitz, Holden Larson and Isaac Knutson were fourth with a time of 46.03. Nathan Larson placed fifth in the 1600 meter run with a personal best time of 4:58.34. Renner placed in the 800 meter run. He was sixth with a time of 2:11.50.
Although they didn’t place, some personal best times were recorded at the District meet. The shuttle hurdle team of Braden Renner, Patrick Carew, Jason Lillebo and John Grady ran the race in 1:16.16. Jason Lillebo threw a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 34’11”.
