The level of Clear Lake came up a welcomed eight-inches thanks to a steady, heavy rain Friday and Saturday, but damages caused by the rains were not so welcomed by Clear Lakers.  The deluge of water overloaded storm sewer lines and caused numerous incidents of flooding and damage.  The lake level rose to 31.44” below the spillway, better than a week ago when it measured -39.48” low.

Gary Geist, owner of the Lady of the Lake excursion boat, has announced his intention to sell the vessel.  The asking price for the 80 ton boat is $275,000.  Over the past four years, Geist said he has carried an average of about 25,000 persons per year.

The 59th Interlake Regatta will be held at Clear Lake Aug. 3-5.  This will be the final regatta of the year on Clear Lake.

Playing at the Surf Ballroom is Bill Dewey and the Dynamics on Friday night and Lesley Gore will play Saturday night with special guests, The Crickets and The Whitesidewalls.

A surprise open house will be held in honor of Polly and Dave Suntken’s 25th wedding anniversary.  The open house will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, in Fellowship Hall at Zion Lutheran Church.  Hosting the event will be their sons, Michael, Christopher and Scott.

Weather permitting, Zion Lutheran Church will hold worship services at the band shell in City Park at 9:30 a.m., Aug. 5 through Sept. 2.

Becky Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Myers, of Clear Lake, and Paul Chizek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chizek, of Garner, are engaged to be married.  A Sept. 29 wedding is planned.

Following the morning worship on Sunday, the Church of Christ erected a sign on their recently purchased land in the Fieldstone Addition.

Five members of the Clear Lake girls softball team were named to the North Central All Conference teams.  Awarded the honor were Wendy Ball, Lisa Broers, Wendy Lincimum, Kandi Rappe and Stacy Petersen.
