Riots which erupted in nearly a dozen resort areas in the Midwest failed to materialize in Clear Lake, as 65,000 enjoyed the holiday weekend.  The city took no chances and called in over 100 National Guardsmen, after 500 rioting youths tore up Arnolds Park, 100 miles to the west of here.

Clear Lake State Park reported 328 families camping at the park.  The hot summer weather brought in huge crowds.  Park officials reported that 7,000 people invaded the parks Sunday.  Macintosh had about 2,500 picnickers and fishermen.

The Clear Lake Lions baseball team will enter sectional tourney play against Rockwell.  Clear Lake will take a 14-2 season’s mark into the ball game.  Don Anderson will be on the hill for the Lions.
