50 Years Ago July 1965

Norman Rutz, 26, has been named head football coach at Clear Lake High School.  Rutz will also teach mathematics at the high school.  Rutz succeeds Duane Brandt as the Lions’ grid boss.

The first Outdoor Art Show ever staged in Clear Lake drew raves from an estimated 4,000 patrons who visited the gallery in city park.

Clear Lake will be host to nearly 65 elected officials and other state dignitaries for the 27th annual Governor’s Day to be held July 30-Aug. 1.

Playing at the Lake Theatre is “I’ll Take Sweden,” starring Bob Hope, Tuesday Weld, Frankie Avalon and Dina Merrill.  Also playing is Burt Lancaster in, “The Train.”
