All three City Council incumbents will run again
All three incumbents on the Clear Lake City Council intend to seek re-election.
At-Large Councilman Mike Callanan said Monday he plans to run for a third term, saying he has enjoyed his service to the city and considers it important to give back to his community.
Last month Ward One Council Representative Dana Brant said he intends to run again for City Council, however he is undecided about staying in his ward or seeking the at-large seat. Ward Three representative Jim Boehnke said he will seek a second term. Rich Oehlert, a Clear Lake businessman, has also announced that he will be a candidate for Clear Lake City Council Ward One representative.
“I believe that since I have been on the Council, Clear Lake has continued to move forward,” said Callanan. “When I initially decided to run, I made some comment about addressing infrastructure needs. Today, infrastructure has been done in a big way. We have done a lot of work on the water system, sewer, roads, police department and City Hall. There are a few initiatives that will continue that work and I would like to see those through.”
Monday, Aug. 24, is the first day to file nomination papers for the Nov. 3 General Election in the office of the County Auditor. The deadline to file is Thursday, Sept. 17.
