Barry Dean Ewoldt
Barry Dean Ewoldt, 55, of Traer, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, Iowa, following a long battle with Peritoneal Mesothelioma.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa. A private family burial will be held at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to North Tama BASIC, Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, Cedar Valley Hospice, or The Convenant Cancer Treatment Center. Condolences may be left at www.overtonservice.com.
Barry Dean Ewoldt was born on July 10, 1960, in Waterloo, the son of Royce and Patricia (Green) Ewoldt. Barry grew up on the family farm near Traer and graduated from Dysart Geneseo High School in 1979.
He married the love of his life, Cheryl Craig, on Nov. 21, 1981, in Reinbeck, Iowa. The couple made their home on the family farm near Traer. In 2002, Barry joined Cortright Realty where Kevan bestowed him the now-famous nickname, “Farmdog.” In 2008, Kevan and Barry joined Lockard Realty. Barry and Cheryl enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends in Clear Lake.
He was member of the Traer golf course and enjoyed sharing laughs on Tuesday nights. He attended Prairie Lakes Church, in Cedar Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father, Royce; and his grandparents, Mildred and Elmer Ewoldt and Lyle and Phyllis Green.
Barry is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his mother, Patricia; two sons, Joshua Dean (Tasha) Ewoldt, of Traer, and Lance Alan Ewoldt, of Orange; three granddaughters, Braelyn Shae, Kruiz, and Kaeler; two brothers, Brian (Angela) Ewoldt, of Traer, and Cory (Dawn) Ewoldt, of Hiawatha; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
