Busy week for the Lion wrestling team

Clear Lake varsity wrestlers participated in the Go-Hawk Title Town Duals in Waverly Saturday, Dec. 14.  The Lions had three duals.  They topped Newton, 42-24, and had a close meet with Iowa City, City High, but fell 40-33.  Host Waverly-Shell Rock easily handled the Lions, 60-6.

In addition to the host team, Lions and their opponents, Iowa teams from Bettendorf, Burlington, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Clear Creek Amana, Urbandale, as well as  Kaukauna, Wis. and Stanley, Mo. took part.

Sam Nelson was the lone Lion to record a win against host Waverly-Shell Rock.  The 126-pounder won by fall in 5:39 over Sam Hornyak.

Lion wrestlers recorded four falls and a decision, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Iowa City, City High.  Clear Lake forfeited three weights and fell, 40-33.  Max Currier was a 4-2 winner at 120-pounds and Conner Morey (132), Anthony Aragon (145), Thomas Gansen (170) and Conner O’Tool (182) each won by fall.  The Lions also received points for a forfeit at 195.
