Car club puts the brakes on Aug. 7 cruise
by Michelle Watson
It’s been a year of tough decisions for many and the C.L.A.S.S. Car Club has had to make some hard decisions on its annual 2020 C.L.A.S.S. Car Club Summer Dance Cruise and Show. The club decided to cancel the car show in early June due to COVID 19, but put the decision on what to do with the cruise on hold to see how the pandemic developed.
After discussion by the club’s officers, they have now decided to also cancel the Car Cruise.
“With the increasing number of COVID cases throughout Iowa, we decided for the health of our community and our members to also cancel the cruise,” said Terri Schroeder, a club officer. “We are sad to have to make this decision, but plan on being back stronger than ever next year.”
The C.L.A.S.S. Car Club Summer Dance Cruise and Show is a two-day event held the first full weekend in August each year. The cruise and car show draw hundreds of participants from throughout Iowa and neighboring states. The cruise also encourages large gatherings of people around the lake to view the cars as they parade around the lake.
