Cardinals fall 2-0 to A-P

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team hosted Aplington-Parkersburg on Thursday, May 5.  The Cardinals fell, 2-0, to the talented AP team.

“A-P is a great team, they played really well and had a great plan for this game,” said Coach Josh Banse.  ‘We took some great shots on goal, but sometimes it just doesn’t go your way.”

Losing key players Tehya Mitchell and Ashley Markla to injuries in the first half was another factor that didn’t go GHV’s way.

Goalie Morgan Westendorf had 10 saves for the Cardinals.

“Playing these close games against good competition is going to be great for us.  It is going to get us ready for regionals, where if you lose you’re done,” said Banse.
