Cardinals fall to Bulldogs in final regular season game

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team wrapped up their regular season on Thursday, Oct. 22, against Hampton-Dumont.
The battle was on from the beginning. The Bulldogs took the first match with a score of 25-21. The Cardinals fought hard in the second match and pulled off a 25-23 victory. The next two matches were equally close, with H-D capturing both matches, 25-22 and 25-23.
Hannah Lau was a force to be reckoned with, as she collected a very impressive 28 kills against the Bulldogs. She also blocked 2.5 hits at the net and contributed 10 digs.
Carlie Knutson also had a good night, with 16 digs and seven kills.
Other leaders at the net included Taylor Gerdes with seven kills, Jackie Van Oort had six and Katie Rasmuson had three kills.
On defense, Van Oort had 15 digs, while Payton Bamrick had 11 and Sydney Childress had seven. Miranda Jackson had five digs.
Childress led the team in assists with 42.
Bamrick and Knutson each had two ace serves.
