Cardinals place third at home meet

Cardinal Relays

It was a successful home meet for the GHV boys on Tuesday, April 26.  The Cardinals placed third in the 10-team meet with 86 points.  West Hancock won the meet with 108 points and Lake Mills was third with 106 points.

GHV dominated the 800 meter run, capturing first and second place finishes in the event.  Reece Smith won the race with a time of 2:11.94, followed closely by Johnathan O’Connor with 2:13.74.

Another strong event for the Cards was the 110 meter hurdles.  Sam Cataldo placed second with a time of 15.55, while Conner Shaw was fourth in 17.14.

Logan Dalbeck and David Cook both captured runner-up finishes, Dalbeck in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:53.60 and Cook in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.43.

The 4x800 relay won the race with a time of 8:31.07.  Members of the relay were O’Connor, Smith, Ray Cataldo, Dalbeck.

*Distance Medley: Cook, Shaw, Derek Brown, Ray Cataldo, third, 4:05.90

*3200 meter run: Andy Schreur, fourth, 11:46.69

*100 meter dash: Cook, fourth, 11.81; Holden Larson, eighth, 12.54

*High jump: Larson, sixth, 5’04”

*200 meter dash: Larson, seventh, 26.10

*1600 meter run:  Schreur, eighth, 5:37.59
