Cards go 1-2 at Osage Triangular

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestling team traveled to Osage on Tuesday, Dec. 18, to compete in the final triangular before the holiday break.  The Cardinals went 1-2 at the meet, with a win against West Fork and losses to Central Springs and Osage.  GHV pounded the West Fork Warhawks, 63-6.  They wrestled hard against Central Springs, but came up short, 48-27.  The ever powerful Osage team handed them a tough 66-18 loss.

Jared Shaw, at 152 pounds, couldn’t have had a better night, recording three pins.  He pinned West Fork’s Dakota Lau in 1:44.  Against Central Springs, he pinned Kaden Jacobsen in 1:45.  He pinned Colin Muller, of Osage, in 4:25.

GHV’s 285 pounder, Tyler Nielson went 3-0 at the meet, recording two pins and a forfeit.  He pinned West Forks Levi Janssen in 1:16.  He also pinned Dalton DeWitt, of Central Springs in 1:20.

Luke Brown posted a 2-1 record at 145-pounds.  Brown picked up two pins, one against  West Fork’s Carson Nuehring and the other against Osage’s Noah O’Malley.  He pinned Nuehring in 1:46 and O’Malley in 1:31.  He fell to Lucas Garl of Central Springs by a 7-2 decision.

Buck Weaver, who wrestles at 170-pounds, also had two pins for the night.  One against Cody Downing of Central Springs, in :39.  He also pinned West Fork’s David Sturges.  He made short order of that match also with a fall in :21.  Weaver was pinned by a tough Osage wrestler, Spencer Mooberry.
