CL boys tennis team defeats Decorah and Webster City

The Clear Lake boys tennis team hosted the Decorah Vikings on Tuesday, April 16. The Lions came out with a hard-fought 6-3 victory.
“This was a good win for us. Decorah is a good team,” said Coach Dave Peters. “I felt our doubles teams played well tonight.”
Clear Lake was up 4-3 with one and two doubles going to super tiebreakers. The number one doubles team of Mac Adams and Aaron Blum were down 9-5 in the super tiebreaker. They won the next six points to win the tiebreaker, 11-9. The number two doubles team of Carter Olk and Noah Mason ended up winning a very close 10-7 tiebreaker.
Erik McHenry won both his singles and doubles matches in straight sets. Jackson Loge battled from one set down in singles to win in a super tiebreaker 10-5.

The Lions gave fifth rated Boone a fight to the end on Thursday, April 18. The Toreadors escaped with a narrow 5-4 victory.
Mac Adams and Aaron Blum both won their singles for the Lions and teamed up for a doubles victory. The Lions also got a singles victory from Erik McHenry, who won in a super tiebreaker.
“This was excellent competition for us,” said Coach Rich Peters. “We are continuing to improve. We need to continue to be more consistent.”
