CL boys track team places fourth at Lynx Relays
The Clear Lake boys finished in fourth place among seven teams completing at the Lynx Relays in Webster City Tuesday, April 19.
Two Lions earned victories in individual events. Zach Lester broke the tape in the 800 meters in 2:08.87 and Parker Crispin won the 110 hurdles in 16.14. Lester was also third in the high jump, clearing 5’6”. Crispin was also a member of the shuttle hurdle relay that placed third in 1:01.69. Crispin ran with Parker Truesdell, Lester and Chase Bacon in the event.
Truesdell was also a member of the 4x200 which placed first. Zach Tatum, Cooper Merrill, Truesdell and Bacon ran a 1:32.95 to win. The same group ran the 4x200 and was second in 44.28.
Clear Lake’s Distance Medley with Tatum, David Vohs, Speed Toyne and Karter Anderson was second in 3:50.33.
The Lions grabbed two placements in the long jump. Merrill as second with a mark of 18’8” and Vohs was fifth at 17’8.50”.
Other placements for the Lions included:
•Shot put: Jared Penning, fifth, 39’4.50”
•400: Toyne, fourth, 53.48; Nick Eggers, fifth, 54.84
•200: Bacon, sixth, 23.86
•4x400: Toyne, Vohs, Luke Eggers, Truesdell, fifth, 3:39.79
Junior varsity
Luke Eggers won the long jump with a leap of 18’7.5” to lead the junior varsity Lions. He was also second in the 200 in 25.08. Thorson Ollinger was second in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:05.67 and Nick Currier placed sixth in the 1600 in 5:48.31.
The 4x100 with Noah Copney, Joey Monson, Dalton Grell and Luke Eggers placed second in 50.70.
The Lions’ Distance Medley team of Max McKenna, Ryan Atkinson, Grell and Currier were sixth in 4:37.79.
The 4x400 with Ollinger, Currier, Andy Hiscocks and Austin Young finished sixth in 4:50.08.
