CL girls fall to MC

It’s been a slow start for the Clear Lake girls golf team.  The Lions have played in just one meet to date, but it was a good starting point for the Lions, according to Coach Adam Brinkman.

Mason City hosted the Lions at the Mason City Country Club Thursday, April 13.  The Mohawks picked up the win, 200-212.

“Our first meet of the season was a good test for us. The Mason City Country Club is a tough course with challenging greens. Overall I thought we played pretty well,” said Coach Brinkman.  “I was happy with our scores, but we know there’s always room for improvement.  We just need to focus on the little things like club selection or ball placement. If we can lose the mental errors, I know we can lose a few strokes.”

Ashley DeLong led the Lions with a 43.  Mattie Krause was next with a round of 49.  Erin Carew carded a 57 and Madison Gochanour had a 63.

Mason City’s Sydney Eaton was medalist with a 35.

In junior varsity action, Grace Hartnett fired a 60. Olivia Larson and Kennadi Colbert each had 74s.
