CL 1, GH/V 0
Logan Anderson’s goal in the ninth minute of the first half proved to be the winner in Clear Lake’s opening round game against GH/V Saturday. The Lions out-shot Garner 16-4 and had a 6-2 shots on goal advantage in the 1-0 victory.
Ivy Hogg was credited with an assist on Anderson’s goal.
“The Lion’s defense played outstanding in this game,” said Head Coach Nick DiMarco. “Jessica Faber, Beca Breadlow and Trudy Peterson rarely let the ball into the GH/V territory and on the rare occasion that it did cross the midline, Madison Faber, Erin O’Tool, and Katie Hewett quickly stole the ball and we had possession again.”
Ellie Biebesheimer was in goal for the Lions and had two saves.

Regulation ended in a 1-1 tie.
In a 10-minute sudden death overtime, Clear Lake had three shots to Hudson’s one in the extra period, but at the end of sudden death the score was still 1-1.
The match then went into penalty kicks and Hudson prevailed, 2-1.
“I was very proud of the intensity the girls played with in both games,” said Coach DiMarco.
