CL wrestlers are home Thursday and Saturday

Wrestling fans will have two opportunities this week to see the Lions at home.

The Clear Lake wrestling team hosts Humboldt Thursday night, Jan. 7.  The junior varsity team takes the mat at 6:30 p.m.  The varsity will start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Clear Lake’s youth wrestlers will also be wrestling Humboldt’s youth wrestlers at 6:30 p.m. on a separate mat.

On Saturday, Jan. 9, the Lions will host an eight-team tournament. First round will be at approximately 10 a.m. Finals are slated for approximately 3 p.m.  Teams competing will be Forest City, Oelwein, St. Ansgar, West Fork, Algona, Charles City and Emmetsburg.

The Lions had three wrestlers in the latest rankings released by IA Wrestle.  Freshman Eric Faught was listed at number three in the Class 2A 106-pound division.  Defending State Champion Ryan Leisure tops the 138-pound class, while Ryan Faught was ranked number eight at 152-pounds.
