Clear Lake police officer charged with assault
A Clear Lake Police Officer has been charged with Serious Misdemeanor Domestic Assault.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Ray Eskildsen, 36, of Clear Lake, was arrested and charged on Thursday, Dec. 1. He was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail, pending an appearance before a magistrate.
Chief Deputy David Hepperly, of the Sheriff’s Office, reported the alleged assault took place Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Clear Lake.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident, assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Clear Lake Police Chief Pete Roth said that pending the outcome of further proceedings, Eskildsen, who has been a member of the Clear Lake Police Department since 2002, will be on paid administrative leave.
Chief Roth declined further comment.
