Clear Lake Walleye Classic results
Jason Dick and Aaron Peterson, of Rockwell, Iowa claimed the title and the $1,00 top prize as winners of the Clear Lake Walleye Classic held last weekend. The team was the leader through the two-day event, weighing in 16.64 pounds of walleye on day one and 11.39 pounds on day two for a total of 28.03 pounds.
The team also earned an extra $500 for landing the biggest fish on day one, a 5.3 pound lug.
Dick and Peterson told the crowd gathered at Sunday’s weigh-in they struggled to find fish on day two and tried several spots. After bringing in “lots of runts,” a 5.2 ounce fish helped the team secure the win.
The tournament runner-up was the team of D.J. Kline and John Simon with 20.70 pounds. Third place went to Joe Kalvig and Nicholas Corley with 19.89 pounds.
The team of Ryan Baack and Michael Evans landed the largest walleye of the tournament, a 6.3-pounder, on Sunday.
The tournament totals are testament to Clear Lake’s claim of angling excellence.
A total of 810.97 pounds of walleye was weighed-in during the two-day tournament. Seventy-five of 100 teams weighed at least one legal fish on Day 2. Thirteen teams turned in their five-fish limit on both days.
