Cleta Haugen

Cleta Mae Haugen, 80, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Good Shepherd Health Center, in Mason City.

Per Cleta’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a celebration of life will be 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at The HUB, 105 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Cleta Haugen Memorial Fund.

Cleta was born Oct. 12, 1934, the daughter of Lyle and Ila (Meyer) Sliger in Aredale, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to DuWayne Haugen on July 8, 1955 in Blairstown, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2004.

Cleta graduated from Riceville High School in 1952.  She worked at the Clear Lake Bakery, E.F. Johnson’s in Mason City, cleaned apartments, and held many other positions.

Cleta was a member of the Clear Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4868 Auxiliary.  She and DuWayne enjoyed spending several summers in Canada camping and fishing.

Cleta is survived by a daughter, Christine Zieman of Goodell, Iowa; two grandchildren, Beth (Dane) Holmgaard, of Goodell and Jason Zieman, of Thornton; four great-grandchildren, Connor, Kaden, Katrina, and Amarantha; two brothers, Darrell “Jim” (Nancy) Sliger, of Mason City and Robert (Sandy) Sliger, of Rock Falls, Iowa; a sister, Beverly (Roger) Gealow, of Slater, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Myron (Pat) Haugen, of Clear Lake; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Alyce Lindquist and Roberta Blake; two brothers-in-law, Dale and Keith Haugen; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Haugen.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge.
