Craig M. Clark
Craig Morris Clark, 68, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, Iowa.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at the Clear Lake V.F.W. with a time of sharing memories at 3 p.m. followed by military honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Family suggests memorials to the Clear Lake V.F.W. Honor Guard.
Craig was born June 15, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Morris and Barbara (Holmes) Clark. He attended school in Ventura, Iowa. He served in the United State Army during the Vietnam War, while stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, Colo. he received his G.E.D.
He married Marj Newman in January 1965 and to this union they had two children, Stephanie and James.
After they were married, they moved to Rock Spring, Wy. where he was a heavy equipment operator. He worked in various western states as a heavy equipment operator. It has been said that he should have been born in the late 1800’s, because that is the era he loved. He enjoyed hunting many areas out west.
He moved back to Clear Lake after his father passed away, to be by his mom and to help her.
Craig was a lifetime member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. and was a member of Local 234 International Union of Operating Engineers for 49 years.
Craig is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Desi) Grell Carrera, Loveland, Colo. and a son, James (Joyce) Grell, Kamuela, Hawaii; grandson, Donavon Carrera; former wife, Marj Grell, Loveland, Colo.; his sister, Karen Rae (Dennis) Badker, Clear Lake; a brother, Bruce Duane Clark, Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Scott (Tina) Badker, Curt Badker, Shane Clark and Sarah Clark; and a great-niece and nephews; and his significant other, Annette Harms, Clear Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Barb Clark.
James said he was stubborn and liked to live life his way.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
