Debra S. Dannen

Debra Sue Dannen, 63, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Mason City and Thornton, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

A memorial service was held on March 11, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.

Inurnment was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Debra was born Sept. 29, 1953, the daughter of Donald “Wayne” and Joan (Bisgrove) Ashland, in Mason City.  She was united in marriage to Roger Dannen on Dec. 4, 1971, and to this union three children were born, Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Trisha.  They later divorced.

A graduate of Meservey-Thornton High School, Class of 1972, she attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College.  She worked in accounting and bookkeeping for most of her life.

Debra enjoyed gardening, attending her children and grandchildren’s school and sport activities, and cherished the time spent with her family; especially her grandchildren.

Debra is survived by her parents, Wayne and Joan Ashland, of Clear Lake; two daughters, Jennifer Kirby, of Omaha, and Trisha (Nicholas) Casey, of Emmetsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Alexa Marshall, Saige Marshall, Isaac Kirby, Harper Kirby, Ella Casey, Rylee Casey and Korbin Casey; two siblings, Greg (Janice) Ashland and Michael Ashland; a dog, Yoshi and a cat, Izzy.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dannen; grandparents, Lester and Veronica Bisgrove, and John and Eva Ashland; and many aunts and uncles.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
