Dorothy M. Clark

Dorothy Marie Stenseth Clark, age 78, died peacefully on Oct. 2, 2015, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec.19, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her name to Hospice of North Iowa, Opportunity Village or the charity of your choice.

     Dorothy was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Alan and Marie (Core) Stenseth.  Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed her family, friends, playing bridge and social activities at Clear Lake.

     In 1963, Dorothy married Frank E. Clark in Aberdeen, S.D.  They made their home on a farm outside Ventura, Iowa, eventually making Clear Lake their permanent residence.  Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing bridge, and traveling with her husband, Frank, and enjoying Clear Lake activities.  Dorothy served as a volunteer and was past president at the North Iowa Medical Center Auxiliary.    Dorothy also earned her Life Master Certificate from the American Contract Bridge League and spent many enjoyable hours playing duplicate bridge with friends locally and in out-of-state tournaments.  Dorothy enjoyed wintering in Arizona with Frank and hosting countless family and friends gatherings at Clear Lake.  Dorothy was passionate about organizing, planning and hosting family and friends’ gatherings.

     Dorothy is survived by her husband, Frank; her five children, Tanya Clark Anderson (Brian), of Ames, Iowa, Jeff Clark, of Ankeny, Iowa, Carol Clark, of San Diego, Calif., Linda Clark Alongi (Tony) of Louisville, Ky., and Amy Clark Ellgren (Todd), of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

     Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and one son.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
