Eight events to compete at State Track Meet for Clear Lake girls

The Clear Lake girls track team had a successful night at the State Qualifying Meet held Thursday, May 12, in Osage.  The girls placed third in the 11-team field with 97 points.  Forest City won the meet with 110 points, followed closely by New Hampton with 110 points.  The Lions will send eight events to the State Track Meet at Drake Stadium this week.

Reese Brownlee was on fire for the Lions, qualifying for State in all four events she was entered in.  Brownlee won both the 200 and 400 meter dashes.  She clocked a 26.57 in the 200 and 57.96 in the 400 to take top honors.  She placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17’8.5”.  She anchored the winning Sprint Medley relay, consisting of Madison Leisure, Makella Jacobs and Lydia Brattrud.

“Reese ran really well tonight and the Sprint Medley set a new school record,” said Coach Shawn Puttmann.

Addison Doughan also had a successful night, qualifying in four events.  She qualified in the 3000, 1500 and the 800 meter runs.  She clocked a 11:27.38 in the 3000, 5:01.92 in the 1500 and in the 800 she qualified with a time of 2:25.50.

  In spite of a 4th place finish, the Distance Medley team also qualified for State with a time of 4:27.38. Members of the relay include Leisure, Jacobs, Brattrud and Doughan.

Mariposa Coleman tossed the shot put 33’2.75” to claim a fourth place finish in the event.

“The girls are excited to have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the State meet,” said Puttmann.

•1500 M: Anna Feuerbach, 8th, 5:26.29

•3000 M: Feuerbach, 8th, 12:38.56

•Shot Put: Alana Moody, 8th, 31’11.25”

•4x100: Leisure, Jacobs, Lester, Brattrud, 4th, 53.67

•Shuttle Hurdle: Coleman, McGrath, Grace Meyer, Lester, 4th, 1:15.29

•4x200: Maycee Moriarty, Laney Lester, Ava Richtsmeier, Hailey Meyers, 7th, 2:01.93

•4x400: Moriarty, Ella Warnke, Lily Lilliberg, Myers, 10th, 4:54.45

•4x800: Alexis Hauge, Emily McLaughlin, Jadyn Heesch, Steinbron, 5th, 11:26.78
