Four Cardinals receive post-season honors

Softball coaches from the North Iowa Conference chose players for the All-Conference lists.  Garner-Hayfield-Ventura had four players that earned honors.

Sophomore Mackenzie Van Gerpen was named First Team All Conference.  Van Gerpen, who played third base for the Cardinals, had a batting average of .350 that included three home runs and 19 RBIs.

Tiara Van Gerpen and Payton Bamrick were named to the Second Team.  Senior Tiara Van Gerpen, who played shortstop, was GHV’s top offensive player with a batting average of .409 and 10 RBIs.  Bamrick, a junior who plays second base, was a leading defensive player with a fielding average of .970.  At bat, she hit .397 with 12 RBIs and two homers.

Sophomore Brooklyn Ossman earned Honorable Mention status.  Ossman finished conference play with a batting average of .392 with 13 RBIs and was the team’s main pitcher.  She finished the league with a win-loss record of 11-8 with 45 strikeouts.

The Cardinals finished fifth in the league with a record of 11-9.  North Union won the conference with a record of 20-0.
