Despite some windy conditions, the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys golf team managed the most consistent scoring of the season at the North Union meet held on Monday, April 24.
GHV was eight strokes behind the winners of the meet, North Union, which shot a 165. GHV ended with a 173 and Belmond-Klemme finished with 291.
Josh Chizek had his best round of the season to lead the Cardinals with a 42. Grady Umbarger trailed by one-stroke with a 43. Matthew Heinemann and Tyler Obermann rounded out the score with 44s. Sam Umbarger shot a 48 and Tyler Kumsher finished with a 50.
“Grady and Matthew were off on their scoring today, while both Tylers played well, but big numbers on a couple of holes hurt them,” said Coach Ken Krause.
North Union’s Parker Oleson was the meet medalist with a 36. The runner-up was Nathan Eaton, also of North Union. Eaton shot a 37.
“With a little good weather, it will be fun to see how much the boys will improve,” said Coach Ken Krause.
