GHV girls fall in Regional soccer action
A slow start doomed the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team in the first round of Regionals on Tuesday, May 30. The Cardinals fell to Arlington-Parkersburg, 3-0.
“I thought we played well in this game except for the first 20 minutes,” said Coach Josh Banse. “After that we started to give more effort and play a lot harder.
Morgan Westerndorf had nine saves at the goalie position.
Hannah Lau had a strong game, with three shots on goal and multiple saves at keeper.
The GHV girls will return seven starters next season and a strong freshman class coming in, according to Coach Banse.
“It will be interesting to see how well they can mesh and come together as a team next year,” said Banse.
The Cardinals ended the season with a 5-10 record.
