The GHV girls track team took a young group to the State Track Meet this year.  Jillian Heitland, a junior, was the only one that had any State experience.

First time competitor Jayden Hughes, a sophomore, had a successful outing.  Hughes qualified in both the 100 and 200 meter dash.  She ran personal bests in both races.  She placed 10th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.93 and she was 11th in the 200 with a time of 26.36.

Heitland competed in the 400 meter hurdles where she placed 24th with a time of 1:12.32.  Heitland, along with Mara Anderson, Madeline Hinz and Rachel Hejlik also qualified in the shuttle hurdle.  The team placed 20th with a time of 1:12.15.  Anderson and Hejlik are sophomores, while Hinz is a freshman.

Emma Whelan, a junior, qualified in the high jump, but did not place.

“It was such a great experience to run on the blue oval,” said Coach Dyan Childress.  “We also enjoyed creating lifetime memories.  The girls had a great meet and they are definitely excited to make a return trip next year.  I am super proud of my girls.”
