GHV girls overcome odds and still post victory

A variety of conditions led to the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls recording their highest team score of the season at the Armstrong meet held on Monday, April 24.  The course was rated as par-38, the fairways were very narrow with out-of-bounds being a potential factor on most holes and there were some very high wind gusts.

“In spite of easily outscoring our competition, the girls were visibly disappointed with their scores,” said Coach Todd Greiman.

The Cardinals still won the triangular in spite of all the adversity with a score of 203.  North Union was runner-up with a 266 and Belmond-Klemme carded a 270.

GHV’s Bailee Frayne was the meet medalist with a 42.  Carlee Frayne was the runner-up with a 46.  Rounding out the score for the Cardinals was Rachel Enright with a 54 and Kayla Leerar with a 61.  Paige Penning carded a 66.

“The weather has not been favorable for productive practice, so hopefully we’ll be able to get back to work very soon,” said Greiman.
