GHV girls win at Armstrong
The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team outdistanced their nearest competitor by 48 strokes when they traveled to Country Greens Golf Course, in Armstrong, Iowa, Monday, May 2. The Cardinals carded a 213 to win the meet, followed by North Union with 261 and West Hancock with 268.
“Our scores were a little above normal, but considering that the course is a par 38 we’re right in line with where we’ve been all season,” said Coach Todd Greiman.
Bailee Frayne led the team with a 47. Kyleigh Slaichert fininshed with a 51, followed by Rachel Enright with a 57 and Paige Penning ended with a 58. Other golfers included Kat Groom with a 75 and Kayla Leerar with a 77.
“The scores for the three and four girls are beginning to come down and that is a welcome sight,” said Greiman. “Hopefully the one and two scores will be back at their best level and the three and four scores will get a little lower by post season.”
