GHV Homecoming
It’s Homecoming week at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura schools. On Thursday, Sept. 27, a pep rally and queen and king coronation will be held at 1:25 p.m at GHV High School. Homecoming candidates are: (front L-R) Bretta Carolus, daughter of Brad and Jessica Carolus; Brielle Smeby, daughter of Todd and Tracy Smeby; Amanda Bierle, daughter of Chris and Angie Bierle; Mara Anderson, daughter of Grant and Brenda Anderson; Tori Sloan, daughter of Cathy and Tom McMahon and Dave and Leslie Sloan; (back L-R) Jon Erdman, son of Jon and Janelle Erdman; Reece Smth, son of George and Tara Smith; Matthew Barickman, son of Dan and Julie Barickman; Jace Pringnitz, son of Jerry and Karrie Pringnitz; and Buck Weaver, son of Shannon and Jason Spieker and Clint Weaver.
A Homecoming Parade is scheduled Friday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. a pep rally will follow at 2:30. The theme for the week is “Toon in for a win.” Each class also has a theme: Senior Class, Scooby Doo - “It’s No Mystery---This will be a Victory!”; Junior Class, Spongebob - “GHV has the Secret Recipe”; Sophomore Class, “MEEP MEEP--Runnin’ over the Competition”; and Freshmen Class Theme: “Yabba Dabba Doo--We will defeat you!” The fun also included dress up days: Maui Monday (Hawaiian Day), Tye-Dye Tuesday, Mid-Week Mixup (Teachers dress like students; students dress like teachers), Thrifty Thursday (thrift store purchases only) and Red & Black Spirit Day on Friday.-Photo by Rebecca Peters, Garner Leader.
