Ginger Brand

Ginger Wanita Brand, 68, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating.  Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Ginger Brand Memorial Fund.

Ginger was born April 2, 1947, the daughter of Merritt “Slim” and Frances Fisher.  She married Robert “Bob” Charles Brand on July 16, 1966 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2011.

Ginger graduated from Clear Lake High School, class of 1965.  She owned and operated the Wagon Wheel, and was a homemaker most of her life.

Ginger was a tremendous cook who enjoyed playing cards, billiards, gambling on the slot machines at the casino, watching her soap operas, and taking pontoon rides.  She loved spending time with family and grandchildren, especially while playing board games.

Ginger is survived by a son, Todd (Amanda) Brand, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Ashley Brand, Britny Brand, and Nevyn Fisher, all of Mason City; seven great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Naomi, Kennedi, Anastasia, Mathayus, Sapphira, and one on the way; three siblings, Myrna (Richard) Berneman, of Mason City, Burton Fisher, of Burchinal, Iowa, and Bob Fisher; four sisters-in-law, Wavel Lichman, of Britt, Marvel Thompson, of Mason City, Sharon Jenkins, of Bay City, Wis., and Karen Hueneman, of Garner, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Rose Olthoff and Delores Jesse; three brothers-in-law, Ronald, Larry, and Richard in infancy; a sister-in-law, Janyce Stromley; and a nephew, David Hueneman.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
