Girls tennis falls to Osage

The Clear Lake girls tennis team played a competitive match at Osage Monday, April 26. The Green Devils came out on top, 8-1.
“The girls played well, we had some really good matches,” said Coach Cat Aragon-Bauer. In addition to a singles win by Aimee Groeneweg, the doubles team of Dani Mennenga and Whitney Finer played well in a 9-8 loss. “They lost a tough, long match in a tiebreaker, but I am very proud of how they played,” said the coach.
Charles City shut out the Lions on a breezy Tuesday, April 27.
Saturday, the North Central Tennis Conference tournament was held and the Lions were fifth in the six-team field. The highest finisher for the Lions was the doubles team of Emily Roberts and Haley Jackson. The duo placed second
“We showed great improvement having to play against some pretty tough competition, which included Decorah and Waverly,” said Coach Aragon-Bauer.
Decorah took first place at the event with 44 points. Waverley-Shell Rock was runner-up with 30. Third place went to Charles City with 25 points. Osage edged Clear Lake, 16 to 15, followed by Oelwein with five points.
