Girls track competes at Qualifying Meet; personal records set
Members of the Clear Lake girls track team competed at the Qualifying Track Meet at Nevada Thursday, May 13. The Lions set personal records in seven events and placed seventh as a team.
“All year, the girls had a positive attitude,” said Coach Shawn Puttmann. “Coach Thompson and myself are very proud of their accomplishments. The girls kept striving to improve all year long and it was a great night for the girls team to perform. Unfortunately, we did not have anyone move on to the State Track Meet.”
Freshman Emily McLaughlin was Clear Lake’s highest finisher, placing fifth in the 3000 meter run in 12:13.93.
Among those setting personal records at the meet was freshman Anna Feuerbach, who finished sixth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:42.35.
Alana Moody and Mariposa Coleman each posted personal bests in the shot put. Moody placed sixth with a mark of 30’2.5”, while Coleman was seventh at 29’11.” Coleman, who is a freshman, also had a personal best in the 100 meter hurdles. She was clocked in 18.98 to place 10th. She also anchored the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay team which set a personal record of 1:19.81, good for sixth. The relay also included Grace Meyer, Payton McGrath and Jadyn Heesch.
The 4x800 relay with Heesch, McGrath, Alexis Hauge and Kylee Leewright ran a 12:19.77 for a personal best and sixth place finish.
The 4x200 team of Maycee Mariarty, Makella Jacobs, Ava Richtsmeier and Jordan Mayland set a personal record of 2:00.84 and placed seventh.
