High speed chase on I-35 lands Missouri woman in jail

A Liberty, Mo., woman led law enforcement on a high speed chase from County Road B-20, just north of Clear Lake, into Minnesota Monday before being arrested and charged with a litany of offenses.

At approximately 7:02 p.m. a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck for speeding on 300th Street (County Road B-20) in Cerro Gordo County.  The truck turned north onto Interstate 35 and fled from the deputy, reaching speeds of approximately 110 mph.  During the pursuit the driver was throwing items out of the vehicle which were later recovered.

The driver, Monica Christine Lynch, 45, continued to flee from law enforcement, driving out of Cerro Gordo County, through Worth County, and ending up in Freeborn County, Minn., where deputies attempted to stop the vehicle with stop sticks.  Lynch drove off the roadway, stopped, and was taken into custody with no further incident.

of Freeborn County deputies, an Iowa State Trooper and Minnesota State Troopers.  Lynch was taken to Freeborn County Jail on several Minnesota charges.

During a search of the Ram truck, a loaded rifle was found inside the cab.  Found along Interstate 35, where Lynch was throwing items out of the vehicle, suspected methamphetamine and marijuana was found.

Warrants have been filed for Lynch in Cerro Gordo County for the following: Felony Eluding, a Class D Felony; Possession of a Firearm as a Felon, a Class D Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor; Possession of Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; Littering, a simple misdemeanor; No Driver’s License, a simple misdemeanor.

Lynch is being held in the Freeborn County Jail on the Minnesota charges and will eventually be extradited to Iowa for the warrants filed in Cerro Gordo County.

The Worth County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the pursuit.

There were no injuries and no vehicles were damaged as a result of the pursuit.
