James K. Burnett

James “Jim” Kevin Burnett, 56, of Clear Lake, passed away Feb. 1, 2017, at home in Clear Lake.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, with Pastor Scott Sokol officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

  In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to Opportunity Village.

Jim was born Nov. 25, 1960, the son of Bernard Sr. and Audrey (Walker) Burnett in Honolulu, HI.  He attended Swea City School.  He worked for Art’s Way Manufacturing, Elevator Constructions, Green Giant, North Iowa Collision Center, and Opportunity Village.

Jim enjoyed riding on 4-wheelers, going to the movies with his brothers, fishing in Duncan Heights, listening to music, sketching pictures, spending time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his father, Bernard Burnett, Sr., of Swea City; two siblings, Bernie Burnett Jr., of Algona, Iowa, and Janet (Alan Sukowatey) Johnson, of Spring Valley, Wis.; two half siblings, Andrew Burnett, of Bancroft, Iowa, BilliJo (Steve) McQueen, of Algona; one aunt, Barb Montgomery, of Swea City, Iowa, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Burnett; sister, Debbie Burnett; maternal, paternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
